Santee is currently drafting a Climate Action Plan (CAP), initiated in 2014. In April 2017, the Santee City Council voted 4-1 to hire consulting firm LSA Associates Inc. to help the city finish an environmental impact report (EIR) and the CAP, called the “Sustainable Santee Plan.” In late August 2017, LSA released the results of their Initial Study, which is the preliminary environmental analysis before compiling an EIR. The Initial Study demonstrates the intention by the city of Santee to reduce the city’s emissions in accordance with state targets. A link to the results of the LSA Associates Inc. study can be found here. The EIR scoping comment period concluded in October 2017.
At a City Council meeting on September 6, 2017, Council heard an informational presentation from Barbara Boswell, former director of Lancaster Choice Energy (currently with Bayshore Consulting Group) about Community Choice Energy.
