SDUT: Panel delays decision on Sempra lobbying group

July 15, 2016 – San Diego Union Tribune – Joshua Emerson Smith reports: “The theory is that somehow there’s a magic firewall that Sempra will be operating independently from SDG&E, who they see regularly at happy hour and on the golf course. To me, it’s a complete myth,” said Nicole Capretz, executive director of the San Diego-based nonprofit Climate Action Campaign, which opposes creation of the marketing division.

California regulators on Thursday pushed off a decision on whether San Diego Gas & Electric and its parent company, Sempra Energy, can form an independent marketing division that would be able to give its take on a public energy program gaining traction in this region and elsewhere.
