Patti Larchet

Meet Patti. A CAC board member, former executive, mother, Solana Beach resident, and all-around climate rockstar.

Q. How are you involved with Climate Action Campaign?
I am on the Board of CAC.

Q. Why do you support Climate Action Campaign? And what are the benefits?
I support CAC because I believe in our simple mission, “to stop climate change.” I believe in our action-based approach working with local leaders and policymakers to implement legally binding policies to stop climate change.

Q. How else do you contribute to stopping climate change?
I am currently in the process of putting solar onto my home.

Q. What, where, or who inspires you?
Travel inspires me, experiencing new places, cultures and beliefs. People who make a difference also inspire me.

Q. Which of CAC’s five fights are you most excited about? (100% Clean Energy; Bikeable, Walkable, Transit-Rich Communities; Urban trees and climate resilience; Zero Waste; Social Equity)
The top of the list right now for me is promoting 100% clean energy.

Q. If there was one thing you could change the way that San Diego County handles climate change, what would it be?
I would like to see San Diego, who has already taken the lead on 100% clean energy, become more vocal on educating the community.

Q. What is the most interesting or surprising thing you’ve learned about climate change, clean energy, transportation, etc., by getting involved with CAC?
That there still are doubters that climate change is real!?

Q. How have you already seen climate change affect the people and place you love? And what future impacts are you most concerned about?
I have lived in San Diego for 16 years. We moved here from Australia where we lived for 10 years, and of course had AC. When we first moved here the house we bought did not have air conditioning, the owners told us we didn’t need it. I was doubtful until I learned they ran an AC company. Now during a Santa Ana heat wave, or when fires are in the area and hot winds are blowing, there are an increasing number of days each year that I wish I had AC. Each year is getting hotter. Living in north county San Diego I have the luxury of a near daily beach walk. The thought of losing our beaches is a real concern to me.

Q. What is your vision for future generations in San Diego?
Educated, aware and passionate people who continue to take action making the necessary changes to produce clean air, clean beaches, and stop climate change.

Q. Where do you live (City or Neighborhood)? How long have you been there?
Beautiful Solana Beach, 16 years.

Q. What do you do for a living?
I am a former CEO, now sitting on a number of Company Boards.

Q. What are your passions/hobbies?
Beach walks, yoga, reading, travel, fun with friends and family, making a difference.
