San Diego Community Choice Alliance Commends Mayor Faulconer For Leading Community Choice Energy Movement
Coalition of Community Groups, Entrepreneurs Say Moving Forward With Business Plan is the Right Step
SAN DIEGO, November 17, 2017 – The San Diego Community Choice Alliance applauds Mayor Faulconer for taking the reins and leading the city forward on the next step in evaluating Community Choice Energy (CCE).
The Alliance says that Community Choice Energy allows the city to take control of its energy destiny by purchasing power on behalf of families and businesses to stabilize rates and offer residents in San Diego choice in their electricity provider. By moving forward, the city of San Diego is on the path to join the 71 cities and nine counties in California already enjoying lower bills, cleaner energy, more local jobs and millions to reinvest back into neighborhoods.
“Community Choice Energy is a tried and true program and a win for all people in San Diego. We commend Mayor Faulconer’s leadership in taking us one step closer to energy freedom, lower energy bills and more local clean energy. We are confident the business plan will show that Community Choice Energy is the best pathway to reach 100 percent clean energy by 2035 and cement the mayor’s legacy as climate champion,” said Nicole Capretz of Climate Action Campaign.
San Diego Community Choice Alliance is a congregation of business leaders, activists and community members calling on the City of San Diego to pursue Community Choice Energy to accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy that drives innovation, creates jobs, and benefits business.
