SDG&E Proposal Rejected by City Advisory Board
Community Choice is Only Tried-and-True Pathway to 100% Renewable Future
SAN DIEGO, May 11, 2018—The city of San Diego’s official Advisory Board to the Mayor and City Council on energy policy voted yesterday to resoundingly reject SDG&E’s fatally flawed proposal.
“The lack of specificity in addressing key environmental, economic and financial factors [shows that] SEAB cannot recommend the enterprise partnership that SDG&E has proposed.” – Sustainable Energy Advisory Board, May 10, 2018.
This vote once again shows that Community Choice is the only tried and true pathway to a 100% renewable energy future. With over 100 cities and 11 counties throughout California served by choice, it’s time for San Diego families to enjoy the same benefits and opportunities.
The Sustainable Energy Advisory Board joins thousands of others in San Diego who know Community Choice is the only tried and true path to a 100% clean energy economy. In San Diego, the momentum for choice only grows and expands. UDW-AFSCME Local 3930 joined our fight for choice, as well as the La Jolla Village Merchants Association, Walz Properties, and Lehbros Limited, two property management companies.
For over a century, families have not had a choice in their electricity provider nor control over their energy destiny. That all changes once we adopt Community Choice.
San Diego Community Choice Alliance is a congregation of business, faith, community, elected and labor leaders calling for the adoption of the only tried-and-true pathway to 100% clean energy, Community Choice. Choice will accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy by creating a not-for-profit public agency that offers families choice, drives innovation, builds the local economy, and keeps revenue in the community.
