Beach Cleanup – Imperial Beach
Nov 16 @ 9:00 am – 11:00 am

Join Surfrider Foundation for a beach and street cleanup in Imperial Beach.

Look for the Blue Surfrider Tent where Palm Avenue meets the beach.

Beach Cleanup Information

  • Meet at the location described, and look for the blue Surfrider tent. That’s where you’ll start your morning by signing in and borrowing cleanup supplies.
  • We will have supplies on hand, but please bring your own as our supplies are limited. By bringing your own reusable gloves, reusable bag/bucket and/or reusable water bottle, you help us create zero waste at our cleanups.
  • Please wear comfortable clothes, closed-toed shoes and sunscreen. All volunteers (individuals as well as groups) are welcome to participate and must sign this liability waiver. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present at the beginning of the cleanup to sign a liability waiver before the minor can participate.
  • Registration is not required unless a group is larger than 20 people – to register please contact beachcleanups@surfridersd.org.
  • As a volunteer, you play an active role in determining the sources of trash on our beaches. During the cleanup, please be prepared to fill out a data card detailing the types of trash that you collected, and make sure to have your trash weighed when you return to the registration table at the end of the cleanup. Preview our data card here

Weather Cancellation Policy

If it is lightly raining, we will hold the cleanup. If there are heavy rains, we will cancel the cleanup. To check the status of a cleanup, please see the Surfrider San Diego County events calendar or visit us on social media.

SanDiego350 Monthly Membership Meeting – November @ Seaside Center for Spiritual Living
Nov 19 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

At our monthly meetings we hear updates from our teams, talk about upcoming events and volunteering opportunities and typically have breakout sessions or a guest speaker. It’s a good way to learn about the organization and meet like-minded volunteers. New and long-time members are equally welcome!

Join for a meet & greet social. Meet other volunteers and mingle with old friends over a glass of wine or an ice-cold beer. Learn about opportunities to get involved and what your peers are doing to stay proactive. The social will begin around 6:45 so feel free to show up a little earlier than the 7:00 pm start time.

Feature presentation by the transportation team. Transportation is the cause for over half of the carbon emissions in our area. Bee Mittermiller and Toshihiko Ishihara from the transportation team will be speaking about efforts underway to increase public transit and reduce carbon emissions coming from our roads. They will also discuss what our partners are doing to combat the issue and how we are collaborating with them to shape public policy.

You can also signup for the new volunteer orientation that will be held before the meeting from 6:15 pm-7:00 pm: Sign up here

San Diego Regional CCE Board Meeting- November
Nov 21 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

The San Diego Regional Community Choice Energy Authority is having their board meetings to discuss important policy that will shape the direction of CCE in the region.

These meetings are a great opportunity to come out and learn more about how CCE will impact our region and what you can do to influence the board to create a program that benefits all residents and promotes renewable energy.

RSVP here!

This an exciting time in the formation of CCE in the region and this is an opportunity to get involved in the decision making process. The ability to participate in local meetings is one of the great benefits of a local CCE program.

We can help to direct policy and show public officials that local, clean, renewable energy that creates well paying local jobs and benefits communities of concern are priorities of the CCE.

Chapter Meeting
Nov 21 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
