  • Please wear comfortable clothes, closed-toed shoes and sunscreen. All volunteers (individuals as well as groups) are welcome to participate and must sign this liability waiver. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present at the beginning of the cleanup to sign a liability waiver before the minor can participate.

  • As a volunteer, you play an active role in determining the sources of trash on our beaches. During the cleanup, please be prepared to fill out a data card detailing the types of trash that you collected, and make sure to have your trash weighed when you return to the registration table at the end of the cleanup.

If it is lightly raining, we will hold the cleanup. If there are heavy rains, we will cancel the cleanup. To check the status of a cleanup, please see the San Diego Coastkeeper events calendar or visit us on social media.

John Holm: Retro Surf Impressionism, Bliss 101 Art Exhibition
Aug 30 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

John Holm: Retro Surf Impressionism
On August 30, from 5-8pm Bliss 101 in Encinitas will be hosting an exhibition for Painter John Holm.

Bliss 101 will be donating a percentage of sales from this exhibition to Surfrider Foundation San Diego County.

“John Holm fell in love with the sea at a young age while living on the North Shore of Oahu where he enjoyed beachcombing and snorkeling. Since then, life has taken him to Monterey, Friday Harbor, and Madison Avenue. After time as a surfer and art student, to a stint as a Navy pilot and a forty-year career in advertising, Holm returned to Seattle. His coastal memories became the images that were reborn in the form of acrylic paintings he calls “Surfscapes”. John also creates the reclaimed wood frames that complement the beach themes. Paintings sold in San Diego, Kauai, and Oahu.”
