Clarissa graduated from Pitzer College with a B.A in Environmental Analysis and a Minor in Spanish. Her studies focused on the intersections of sustainability and the built environment and her passion is environmental justice organizing. Her organizing journey began after taking a toxics tour in the I.E where she realized that her family and surrounding communities were unjustly bearing the burn of air pollution caused by the logistics industry in the area.
She then spent her four years of college volunteering and working with environmental organizations such as Huerta Del Valle and the Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice, where she assisted with sustainable agriculture & equitable food access, and lobbying for clean air and energy policies. She also helped to found and lead an environmental justice club at the Claremont Colleges where she helped to bridge the gap between students and environmental organizations through meaningful engagement that advances organizations goals and missions.
As a new member of the CAC team, she’s excited to put her experiences and skills to work towards a more just, equitable, and sustainable near future.
