SAN DIEGO, June 15, 2021 - Climate Action Campaign is pleased to announce the appointment of Rick Bates to its Board of Directors.

“Our Board of Directors is a dedicated team of community leaders from the business, nonprofit, organized labor, and philanthropic sectors committed to achieving a zero carbon future in the San Diego region and beyond through bold climate action,” said Nicole Capretz, Executive Director of Climate Action Campaign. “We are excited for Rick to bring his political savvy and passion for climate and economic justice to our board!”

Rick Bates is a Research and Policy Analyst for UNITE HERE Local 30, a labor union representing more than 6,000 workers in San Diego’s hotel and hospitality industries. Additionally, Rick is a public ballot member of the central committee of the San Diego County Democratic Party, delegate to the California Democratic Party Convention, and is a transit-jobs- and-housing activist who serves as a board member of the Cleveland National Forest Foundation and Vice Chair of the San Diego Green New Deal Alliance.
