Nicole Capretz To Accept California Clean Energy Hall Of Fame Award
SAN DIEGO, November 17, 2021 - Climate Action Campaign’s Executive Director, Nicole Capretz, will receive a Clean Energy Champion award from the California Energy Commission, and be inducted into the Clean Energy Hall of Fame. This award honors individuals and organizations making exceptional contributions to help California achieve a 100 percent clean energy future for all.
"I'm honored to receive this award and join the state’s Clean Energy Hall of Fame,” says Capretz. “This work isn’t easy, but it’s critical for clean air and a climate safe future. I am proud of my team’s work to build a 100% clean energy future and grateful for our partners and allies in this fight. Together, we can win a zero carbon future.”
Nicole Capretz is an environmental attorney with 20 years of experience as an energy, equity, and climate policy advisor for local governments and community-based organizations. Nicole was the primary author of the City of San Diego’s groundbreaking, legally binding 100% clean energy Climate Action Plan adopted in late 2015.
Her work catalyzed similar policies and practices in California and around the country leading to her being considered the “godmother of 100 percent clean energy policy." Capretz continues to relentlessly advocate for community choice energy and a replicable model for the clean energy transition.
The Clean Energy Hall of Fame award ceremony will be held virtually on December 10 at 2 p.m. The awards include the Lifetime Achievement award, four Clean Energy Champion awards, and the Youth Game-Changer award.
