2023 Letter from the CEO

Happy 2024! I am filled with gratitude for each one of you. You have each played an instrumental role in our effort to combat the climate crisis.

As we celebrate the milestones and memories from last year, it is also crucial to acknowledge that our work is far from done. In fact, we are more determined than ever to make 2024 a year that counts for local and state climate action.

This year, we have the unprecedented opportunity to harness our fair share of the historic billions in climate funding from state and federal funds, as well as pass key ballot measures to fund world-class transit and stop the oil industry’s ongoing pollution near homes and schools.

Moreover, let us not forget that 2024 is a big election year, and our commitment to climate action holds even more significance. The outcomes of local, state, and federal races will shape the future of our lives.

With your continued support this year, we aim to:

  • Pass a San Diego ballot measure in November to finally fund a world-class transportation system rooted in transit, bike, and walk infrastructure.

  • Win more all-electric school buildings and bus fleets for clean air and healthy kids.

  • Help cities secure funding for community-driven projects that improve quality of life.

  • Pass gold-standard Climate Action Plans at the County of San Diego, National City, City of Irvine, and City of Santa Ana.

  • Release our Annual Climate Report Cards for Orange County and San Diego.

  • Facilitate cross-sector collaboration, bringing together diverse stakeholders for lasting change.

Together, we are not just observers of change; we are the architects of a brighter future.

Here's to a year filled with purpose, impact, and positive change.

In Solidarity,

Nicole Capretz
