Recap - Gathering for a Safe Climate Future!

Updated: Oct 14, 2021

This past week, October 7th, Climate Action Campaign hosted its first in-person event in two years—Gather 2021! It was quite a success!

Gather 2021 brought together our community of climate warriors and we raised enough funds to both continue our game-changing policy advocacy work and support our annual watchdogging report—the CAP Report Card—for 2022.

In total, we raised $85,000 for bold climate action!

At FruitCraft in Hillcrest, we brought together an incredible group of dedicated individuals in support of climate action. With elected officials from across the county- including our emcee Assemblymember Chris Ward - we proved that San Diego is serious about a climate safe future. Our team, Board of Directors, and Public Health Advisory Council mingled with sponsors, friends from partner organizations, and other dedicated climate activists.

Everyone celebrated the awardees: BQuest Foundation and Councilmember Monica Montgomery Steppe. And there was nothing better than when the entire community raised a glass with Executive Director Nicole Capretz in support of protecting the people and places we love.

Guests delighted in the beautiful LOVE Patio at FruitCraft, with sparkling lights illuminating our beloved community. Acoustic guitar and banjo music played while guests mingled, celebrated, and took fun photos in our photo booth.

The event was the most fun (and surprising!) when we raised over $30,000 in support of our CAP Report Card for 2022! This was on top of the other funds we raised, totalling nearly $85,000! We exceeded our goal thanks to the incredible generosity of our community.

If you are interested in supporting this project, you can still donate and get your name on our Climate Action Plan Report Card for 2022.

We are so grateful to our community of climate activists, those who attended and those who could not attend. Thank you for supporting Climate Action Campaign as we fight for a zero carbon future!

If you weren't able to attend, don't worry! You can watch the program below.
