Katie Crist, PhD, MPH, is a public health researcher at the University of California, San Diego. For the past decade, she has studied interventions to increase physical activity and how our built environments impact health. Out of this experience, she developed an interest in how public health researchers could inform the development of vibrant communities that advance health, environmental sustainability, and equity goals through increased biking, walking and transit use. Her postdoctoral work focuses on how environments and transportation infrastructure impact health and travel behaviors and the integration of programs to encourage active forms of transportation with infrastructure projects. In addition to the Climate Action Campaign, she serves as a Board member for the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition and is highly engaged with numerous advocacy groups and organizations working to improve conditions for walking and biking in San Diego.
