Schools campaign

We all deserve schools and buildings that meet the safety needs of our families—we deserve to be safe where we live, study, and work.

Switch On Success: Electrify Schools

Students and faculty deserve to work and study in safe, healthy schools that are free of indoor air pollution and climate-harming methane gas. Our dependence on dirty fossil fuels threatens the health and safety of us and our communities.

Research has shown that indoor air quality can be significantly worse than outdoor air, posing serious health risks, including asthma, cancer, and developmental issues, to students, teachers, and staff.

Schools can safeguard the well-being of our community by committing to embracing all-electric buildings and fleets. Climate Action Campaign has been on the ground, teaming up with students across Southern California to draft electrification resolutions that school districts can pass. And we’ve been making waves.

Recently, the San Diego Unified School District set the standard for clean, healthy, and safe schools and passed an all-electric ordinance, placing the well-being of its students and faculty above the gas industry’s profits.

The Sweetwater Union High School district followed swiftly, embracing a student-led electrification resolution to create a brighter future. Together, we can keep this momentum going and #electrify your local district.
